ME Career Gateway Elective

Mechanical Engineering majors may opt for the Nuclear and Radiation Engineering Career Gateway Elective track to satisfy their technical elective requirements. Students should note that only one additional nuclear course would make them eligible for the Nuclear Engineering Minor. Taking the elective courses under the “N E” field of study - as opposed to the “M E” field of study - will preserve their applicability toward the Nuclear Engineering Minor.

Nuclear engineering course flow: required course NE 336P (Fall) followed by a choice of four courses—NE 337C (Fall, Intro to Nuclear Power Systems), NE 337F (Fall, Nuclear Environmental Protection), NE 337G (Spring, Nuclear Safety and Security), NE 361E (Spring, Nuclear Operations and Reactor Engineering), or NE 361F (Summer, Radiation and Radiation Protection Lab); notes indicate cross-listing with ME courses and guidance for ME majors.
