This major is offered through the Physics Department. Students take 6 nuclear engineering courses in place of some physics courses and electives from the General Physics major requirements. The courses shown below include the recommended course scheduling, with M E 336P the first recommended course to prepare students for the other courses.

Recommended course sequence: ME 336P (Fall, Concepts in Nuclear and Radiation Engineering) followed by a choice of four courses—ME 337C (Fall, Intro to Nuclear Power Systems), ME 337F (Fall, Nuclear Environmental Protection), ME 337G (Spring, Nuclear Safety and Security), ME 361E (Spring, Nuclear Operations and Reactor Engineering), or ME 361F (Summer, Radiation and Radiation Protection Lab).
